In the world neighbourhoods there are already many initiatives: slum dwellers and community organisations undertake activities supported by strong local organisations. Urban Matters creates opportunities by brining these initiatives as well as those of government and private sector together. By joining hands the impact of the individual projects can be increased, bringing real change to the lives of slum dwellers.

Dutch companies and organisations have much experience with, for example, sustainable construction, water management and waste recycling. Combined with the experience of African and Latin American companies and organisations, this experience may yield new applications and solutions meeting the local needs.
